Man who threatened to kill Da Nang chairman gets 18 months in prison
At the trial, defendant Dao Tan Cuong stated that the text message with the content: "Blood debt must be paid with blood" is a common saying of our ancestors and the defendant did not intend to kill Mr. Huynh Duc Tho.

After the trial, on the afternoon of February 9, the People's Court of Da Nang City sentenced defendant Dao Tan Cuong (residing in Thanh Binh ward, Hai Chau district, Da Nang City) to 18 months in prison for threatening to kill.
The victim in the case, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Huynh Duc Tho, did not attend the trial but authorized two lawyers.
Before his arrest, Mr. Cuong was the deputy director of Petrolimex Aviation Fuel Joint Stock Company, Da Nang branch. It is known that Mr. Cuong is also the brother of Mr. Dao Tan Bang - former chief of office of Da Nang City Party Committee.
According to the indictment, during the investigation, defendant Cuong confessed that at about 1:45 p.m. on July 11, 2017, he used SIM number 01262... to compose the message "Bad boy, blood debt must be paid with blood"; used SIM number 0936... to compose the message: "You will have to pay the price, you betrayed your teacher and friend, you will have to suffer the consequences, and you will die on the street. You still have a wife and children" and then sent the above messages to Mr. Tho and Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, deputy chief of office of the People's Committee of Da Nang City.
The consequences of Dao Tan Cuong's threatening text messages made Mr. Tho and Mr. Son very confused, afraid of being harmed to their lives and health at any time, so they had to change their routes, times, and means of transportation to work.
Propose that Da Nang City Police and the City Military Command arrange Military Intelligence - Reconnaissance forces to patrol, control and protect.
At the investigation agency, defendant Cuong confessed to threatening to harm the lives of Mr. Tho and Mr. Son by sending text messages as above.
According to the defendant Cuong's testimony, because he suspected that Mr. Son suggested that Mr. Tho let the inspector take care of land L09 in Son Tra, affecting the reputation of his younger brother, Dao Tan Bang, Cuong bought a phone and sent threatening text messages to Mr. Tho and Son.
