South African beauty crowned Miss Universe 2017

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, 22 years old, won the crown in the Miss Universe final held in the US on the evening of November 26 (local time).

The 66th Miss Universe final was held at The Axis Theater at the Planet Hollywood hotel-casino complex in Las Vegas, USA. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters beat 91 contestants to be crowned.

This South African beauty is 22 years old and 1.71 m tall.recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration from North West University.Demi-Leigh Nel-PetersShe said that her motivation to always strive was her half-brother, who was born without a cerebellum and was disabled.

The finale lasted three hours and had few highlights. Singers Fergie and Rachel Platten performed alongside the contestants in the evening gown and bikini competitions. MC Steve Harvey and plus-size model Ashley Graham hosted the show.

This year, the countries were divided into three groups: Americas, Europe and Africa - Asia Pacific to perform the opening act. Each group had four contestants selected for the Top 16. The Africa - Asia Pacific group had representatives from Thailand, Sri Lanka, Ghana, South Africa. The Europe group included:Spain, Ireland, Croatia and the island of Great Britain.The four faces of the Americas region are: Colombia, USA, Brazil, Canada.

The remaining four beauties in the Top 16 were decided by the judges from all the contestants: Philippines, Venezuela, Jamaica and China.

Vietnam's representative at Miss Universe 2017 - Nguyen Thi Loan - stopped early. Previously, Nguyen Thi Loan was expected to achieve higher results than the international competitions she had participated in. The beauty from Thai Binhrepresented Vietnam at Miss World 2014 and entered the top 25.In the Miss Grand International 2016 contest, she stopped in the top 20.

The Miss Universe pageant was first held in 1952 in the United States. It is one of the “big 4” beauty pageants (the four largest beauty pageants in the world), along with Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss International.

This year's judges include TV star Ross Mathews, YouTube star Lele Pons, makeup artist and model Jay Manuel, Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam, Fox Sports 1 host Megan Olivi and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
