The beauty from Quang Ninh becomes Miss Sports.
Lai Huong Thao, a girl from the mining region, was crowned Miss Sports 2012.
Through the semi-final round and the advanced talent performances at the final night, the judging panel selected three contestants to participate in the Q&A round, and the title of Miss Sports 2012, with a crown worth 1 billion VND, went to Lai Huong Thao (Quang Ninh); First Runner-up Duong Thi Ha Giang (Ha Giang) and Second Runner-up Giang Thi Chuong (Son La).

The organizers also awarded the following special prizes: Miss Congeniality Luu Thi Van Phung (Ho Chi Minh City); Miss Talent Vu Thuy Linh; Miss Best Skin Nguyen Ngoc Lan Huong (Ho Chi Minh City); Miss Best Physique Nguyen Thi Thu Hang (Dak Lak); Miss Most Charming Face Vu Ngoc Hoang Oanh (Ho Chi Minh City); Miss Community Service Nguyen Thuc Uyen (Ho Chi Minh City); and Miss Most Popular (voted online) Le Nguyen Minh Hang (Da Nang).
Besides the contestants' performances, the final night on August 5th also featured appearances by "the king of Vietnamese showbiz" Dam Vinh Hung, Duong Trieu Vu, singer Pha Le, and others. Notably, five former Miss Sports winners (Kim Oanh, Thu Huong, Hoang Anh, Hong Ha, and Tran Thi Quynh) also reunited with audiences nationwide. In addition, there were dance performances and artistic sports demonstrations by actors and dancers from renowned art troupes.
Alongside preparing for the competition, the contestants also participated in social charity activities, tourism promotion, and environmental action in Da Nang. To commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, the organizing committee, along with 37 outstanding contestants and sponsor Sun Group, visited and presented gifts to the Center for the Care of People with Meritorious Contributions to the Revolution in Da Nang city.
As part of the activities leading up to the final night, the contestants and representatives from Ba Na Cable Car Service Joint Stock Company organized a tree-planting event in the grounds of this famous tourist area, with the aim of calling on the community to join hands in protecting a green, clean, and beautiful living environment.
Contestant Nguyen Ngoc Lan Huong shared: “I am very happy to participate in the tree planting program at Ba Na Hills tourist area. I hope that through this meaningful activity, we will encourage all citizens to raise their awareness of environmental protection and plant many more trees so that the living environment around us becomes better and greener.”
