US President Obama is visiting Vietnam from May 21 to May 25. He arrived in Hanoi last night (May 22). This morning, the President attended an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace, then held talks with President Tran Dai Quang. He then met with National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, attended a reception, and had bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

On May 24, Mr. Obama will meet with businessmen and enterprises and deliver a speech to the Vietnamese people, then visit Ngoc Hoang Pagoda (HCMC), a 100-year-old pagoda known to many people and international tourists. The White House owner will also attend an event focusing on bilateral trade relations, participating in discussions on the benefits of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) for both countries.

On May 25, President Obama will meet with members of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). He will discuss and answer questions from Vietnamese youth.

After his visit to Vietnam, President Obama will visit Japan late on May 25 and attend the G7 summit, taking place in Ise-Shima on May 26 and 27.
