Man who forced 9th-grade student in Nghe An to eat dirt has been prosecuted.
A male 11th-grade student in Nam Dan district has been charged with the crime of humiliating another person. Because the defendant is under 18 years old, the police have imposed a travel ban on him.
On October 25th, a source confirmed that the Criminal Investigation Agency of Nam Dan District Police (Nghe An province) has initiated a case and indicted PTN (born in 2008, residing in Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district) for the crime of humiliating another person. The indictment decisions have been approved by the People's Procuracy of Nam Dan District. Because the suspect N. is under 18 years old, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nam Dan District Police has imposed a travel ban while the authorities investigate the case. N. is currently a 11th-grade student at Mai Hac De High School.

Previously, on October 22nd, the Nam Dan District Department of Education and Training received information on social media about a video showing a 9th-grade male student at Anh Xuan Secondary School being forced to eat dirt and smoke cigarettes. The Department immediately worked with the school principal to verify the incident and directed appropriate action.
Verification results show that the incident occurred in the fields of Nam Anh commune, after a meeting organized by the Nam Anh Commune Youth Union. The cause was a conflict between Nguyen Van Th. - class 9E - Anh Xuan Secondary School and his classmate Vo Hai D. - class 9C.
On the evening of October 19th, when they met, Th. and his friend Pham Thien Nh. - from class 11A4 - Mai Hac De High School - forced D. to eat dirt, smoke two cigarettes, and swallow the smoke. While Nh. was forcing and threatening D., Th. recorded a video and then sent it to other classmates.
"After discovering that the video circulating online involved students from our school, the school immediately reported the incident to the education department and local authorities. The department also coordinated with the district police, directing the commune police and the school to investigate the case," said a leader of the Nam Dan District Education and Training Department.
