Fans travel nearly 1,000km to Laos to cheer for the Vietnamese team

(Baonghean.vn) - Vietnamese fans in Hanoi brought flags, drums, loudspeakers and many flags to Laos to cheer for the Vietnamese team in the opening match of the AFF Cup 2022.

Last night (December 19), the Vietnam Football Supporters Association (VFS North) gathered at Giap Nhat Street (Hanoi) to depart for Laos. Nearly 50 members will travel by car through Cau Treo border gate and will arrive in the capital Vientiane at 6pm on December 20 to cheer on Coach Park Hang-seo and his team.

Mr. Pham Dinh Long - Chairman of the Northern Football Supporters' Association (VFS) said: 'The supporters' association planned this event very early, and this time nearly 100 people will go to Laos. The supporters' association will coordinate with Vietnamese people living in Laos to cheer for the Vietnamese team''.

On this trip, the association brought a large flag, two large drums, a loudspeaker and many flags and shirts. Mr. Long hopes to turn the Lao national stadium into My Dinh stadium to support the players of the Vietnamese team.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen - Chief of Office of the Vietnamese Association in Laos, the Vietnamese community here has about 100,000 people. In addition to air travel, Vietnamese fans can easily travel by road to the capital Vientiane through the Cau Treo border gate in Ha Tinh.

Not only fans in Vietnam, in the past few days, many Vietnamese people living in Laos have also come to the stadium to welcome the team, watch the training sessions and plan to march and cheer for the Vietnamese team at the stadium.

The capacity of Laos National Stadium is about 25,000 seats. The host country reserves about 3 to 5% of the tickets for away fans, equivalent to 1,000 to 1,250 tickets.

In Group B, Vietnam will start their campaign with a trip to Laos on December 21. According to the schedule, the team will have two home matches in the group stage, hosting Malaysia on December 27 and Myanmar on January 3, with an away match against Singapore on December 30./.
