Indonesian suspected of being infected in Ho Chi Minh City tests negative for nCoV
The Ministry of Health said test results at the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City showed that the suspected Indonesian and 145 people in contact with him were all negative for nCoV.
The Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City on the night of July 1 conducted sample testing using two methods: antigen testing (Realtime - PCR) and antibody testing (Elisa). The results of these two methods have confirmatory value, the Ministry of Health said this morning.
According to the Pasteur Institute, the sample was transferred by the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control, taken from an Indonesian, born in 1989, working in Binh Duong, who came to the city for a medical examination.
This person entered the country on March 11 via Tan Son Nhat International Airport and stayed on the 2nd floor of Au Lac Hotel, My Phuoc Ward, Ben Cat Town, Binh Duong. He is a mechanical engineer for Factory No. 4, Kyungbang Company in Bau Bang Industrial Park, Lai Uyen Town, 20 km from the hotel, and travels to and from work every day by the company's private shuttle bus.
During his stay in Vietnam from March 11 to present, this person has been in normal health, mainly living and traveling from the hotel to the workplace. A total of 145 people have been in contact with him, including: 132 people at the workplace (colleagues, company leaders, drivers, workers), hotel accommodation (7 people), at the restaurant (2 people), Family Medical Practice clinic in District 2 (4 people).
Currently, all suspected cases and contacts are negative for nCoV.
Thus, in the past 24 hours, there were no new infections, one person recovered. The total number of infections is 355, of which 336 people recovered. There has been no community transmission of nCoV in the past 77 days.
There are 19 people being treated at 7 medical facilities, most of them are in stable health. Four people tested negative once, four people tested negative twice, 11 patients tested positive.
The British pilot patient treated at Cho Ray Hospital, the most severe case, is recovering well. To date, the patient has been breathing room air on his own, has been off the ventilator for 20 days, has fully recovered leg muscle strength, and can walk more. However, the patient is mentally unstable, showing signs of not cooperating with medical staff. The patient's health insurance agency is looking for a psychologist to provide psychological support for the patient.
More than 13,000 people in close contact and entering from epidemic areas were quarantined. Of these, 105 people were quarantined at hospitals, more than 12,000 at centralized facilities, and the rest at home or at their place of residence.
The world has recorded more than 500,000 deaths in more than 10 million infections. The US and Brazil are the two countries with the highest number of infections and deaths in the world. Vietnam has not recorded any deaths due to nCoV.
