(Baonghean.vn)In 1984, Ms. Hong was recruited to the Military School of the Military Region. Since 1995, she has been transferred to the Provincial Military Command. Nearly 30 years in the army and also many years of being attached to the work of feeding the troops - a job with many difficulties and hardships - but no matter the circumstances, Major Tran Thi Hong - the feeding staff of the Provincial Military Command always strives to excel and complete her tasks well.
Ms. Tran Thi Hong was born in Hue but spent most of her working time in Nghe An. Right from the moment she entered the military environment, she was involved in the work of feeding the troops, ensuring meals for the troops. As a responsible person, loving her job, and devoted to the health of the troops, although she has not attended any professional training, with her own feelings and responsibilities, she always tries hard to learn and gain experience to constantly improve her expertise, quality and efficiency of work. Bearing in mind the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh "Our army must be well-fed to win", she always tells herself that her work, although very small, also contributes significantly to the completion of the unit's tasks.
Assigned by the commanders at all levels to do the supply work, while the unit was stationed in the city center, Ms. Hong often wondered how to buy the freshest food at affordable prices, suitable for the soldiers' food budget. She spent a lot of time researching the local markets to choose the most suitable time and place to buy goods and supplies.
And so, every day, Ms. Hong woke up at 3am, went to the wholesale markets to buy food, thus saving 20 to 25% compared to normal prices. There were days of drizzle and cold wind, waking up to go to the market in the cold was not a time when she was not discouraged, but the love for her comrades helped her overcome everything. Then, at 5am, the officers and soldiers saw her hurriedly returning with a heavy load of green vegetables and food in time to prepare delicious, nutritious meals.
In addition, she also actively worked with the military feeding team to increase production, contributing to improving the soldiers' meals. She diligently made use of rice, leftover food and collected discarded vegetables to raise livestock. Her military feeding team regularly maintained over 20 fat pigs, imported tons of meat for military supplies every year, exceeding the planned target, and was highly appreciated by her superiors.
In addition, she also actively participates in cultural and artistic movements of the Women's Union, trade union groups... At the same time, she fully and effectively participates in the steps of the Campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example", especially the step of "following" and implementing well the movement "saving yourself to help the needy" launched by the Party Committee - Provincial Military Command.
Not only does she complete her professional tasks well, Ms. Hong also performs well the role of a mother, wife, and filial daughter-in-law in the family. Her husband is also a retired soldier, her father-in-law is a martyr against the US, and her mother-in-law is now old and weak, and has suffered a stroke and is bedridden. Her children are still in school age. Despite such difficult family circumstances, she always tries to overcome all difficulties, arranges her time reasonably to complete both work and family matters, worthy of the title of a woman who is "good at national affairs and good at housework".
With her achievements and efforts, in 2008 and 2009, Major Tran Thi Hong was honored as a grassroots Emulation Fighter. In 2010, she was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee. She was also awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Military Region for her 3-year achievements in implementing the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" in the Military Region's women's force.
Talking to us, Ms. Hong did not talk much about her achievements. With a gentle Hue accent, she said: "I always consider the officers and soldiers in the unit as my relatives, so I always try to overcome all difficulties to have delicious rice and sweet soup for the soldiers. After hours of hard training, studying and working, seeing everyone eat to the full standard and with good appetite makes me very happy. For me, the job of feeding the army is not only a task, but also a responsibility and a joy."
