After more than 2 weeks of emergency cesarean section, on the afternoon of July 27, Ms. Tram (25 years old, Ha Tinh) passed away. Doctors arranged for her to see her son for the last time.

With her health failing after more than 7 months of pregnancy and terminal lung cancer, Ms. Tram could not hold on.In her final days, Tram was very weak, and doctors tried every day to improve her health. However, the tumor had spread throughout her body, and the patient could not tolerate any intervention for cancer treatment.

These past daysTram's eating and sleeping were very poor, and her prognosis was poor, so on the afternoon of July 26, her family asked for her to return home. Before that, the doctors took her to the Central Maternity Hospital to see her baby.

Baby Bear, Tram's son, is being treated at the hospital.Center for Neonatal Care and Treatment,Central Maternity Hospital. The baby still needs a ventilator and is completely nourished intravenously. The baby will continue to receive special care until he is strong, gains weight, and can breathe on his own.According to doctors, premature babies like this one may have to stay in hospital for 3 months. When they were first brought to the center, the baby weighed 1.2 kg.

Married and pregnant for the first time, Tram was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer when the fetus was only 19 weeks old. Knowing that she had no chance of living, the mother decided to keep the pregnancy without treatment, hoping to hold out long enough for the baby to be born.

At the 27th week of pregnancy, when she could no longer bear the shortness of breath, Tram went to K Hospital, branch 1 in Quan Su, Hanoi, for treatment. On the evening of July 10, the fetus was in the 29th week, the doctors realized that the mother's endurance had reached its limit, endangering the lives of both mother and child, so they asked colleagues from the Central Maternity Hospital to come and assist with the cesarean section. The mother had to give birth in a sitting position, and this was also the first time doctors performed a cesarean section with the patient sitting.

After birth, the baby was received by neonatologists, placed in an incubator and transferred to the Central Maternity Hospital for monitoring.

What moved the doctors was the extraordinary willpower and maternal love of the mother. The patient had a pneumothorax, dense lymph nodes on both sides of the neck, plus a mediastinal tumor that made it difficult to breathe. After more than half a month in the hospital, the patient could not lie down but had to sit 24/7, sleeping only 2 hours a day, full of fatigue and pain.
