Overcoming many difficulties, Ho Ba Po in Tien Tieu village, Nam Can border commune, Ky Son district has strived to become a shining example in the movement to get rich and develop the local economy.

Growing from native plants and animals

Coming from a poor farming family, Ho Ba Po (born in 1985) worked hard to finish grade 12 before starting his career. He used to be a regular militia soldier in Nam Can commune, then worked as an agricultural extension officer and Deputy Secretary of the Tien Tieu village Party Cell. He is currently the Chairman of the Nam Can Commune Farmers' Association. These experiences have instilled in him a spirit of determination to overcome difficulties, becoming a strong motivation for him to start his own business.

Realizing that traditional farming was no longer enough to support his family and his children's education, Mr. Po decided to switch to farming. With his own initial capital and additional loans from the Social Policy Bank, he bought 2 breeding cows and 5 female goats, starting his journey with livestock farming. Although he encountered many difficulties such as lack of investment capital, epidemics and unstable consumption markets, with the support from his family, friends, community and local authorities, he persevered to overcome them.

Ho Ba Po started by raising buffalo, cows and pigs - a common job in the Ky Son highlands. He understood that to be successful in this field, he needed good knowledge and skills in raising animals. Therefore, he constantly researched and learned from the experiences of his predecessors and attended training courses on raising animals organized by agricultural extension agencies.

After a while, thanks to good management and careful care, his herd of buffalo and cows grew. He constantly reinvested in buying more breeding animals and expanding his barns. From a few initial animals, the number of buffalo and cows on his farm increased to dozens, bringing a stable and significant source of income to his family.

Not stopping at raising livestock, I tried investing in farming by taking advantage of the vacant land in the village to grow fruit trees such as mango, grapefruit and orange. Thanks to advanced farming techniques and careful care, the family's crops grew quickly, gave high yields and were purchased by traders at good prices.

Realizing the importance of science and technology in agriculture, Mr. Po always tries to apply scientific advances to production practices. He has boldly used high-yield varieties of plants and animals, and at the same time, applied advanced farming and breeding methods, such as using organic fertilizers, biological pest control, and automatic irrigation systems.

One of the important factors that helped Mr. Ho Ba Po succeed in getting rich was his ability to connect with the market. He has built relationships with many traders in neighboring areas, ensuring a stable output for his family's agricultural products. This helps him not only sell products at high prices but also ensure a stable income for his family, especially during difficult seasons.

Spread the model of helping each other get rich

After more than 10 years of developing the farm economy, Ho Ba Po has turned the barren land into a potential farm with a herd of up to 35 cows, a herd of 43 goats, and a large number of pigs, chickens, and ducks. Annual revenue from livestock farming reaches 160 - 200 million VND, helping his family build a spacious house and invest in his children's education. Not stopping there, Mr. Po also actively helps poor households in the area by lending capital, providing livestock breeds, and sharing livestock farming experiences.

Thanks to this support, many households in Tien Tieu village have escaped poverty and have a better life.

With his kindness and sense of responsibility, Ho Ba Po is not only a farmer who got rich from hardship but also a person who makes positive contributions to the community. He has supported many poor households in the locality by giving cows and goats and sharing production experiences. Over the past 10 years, he has helped 1 poor household, that is Mr. Ly Ba Xu's household in Truong Son village, Nam Can commune, with a cow worth 8 million VND; in 2023, he continued to support Mr. Ho Tong Xo's household in Tien Tieu village with a cow worth 7 million VND, which has now given birth to 3 more calves; in early 2024, he supported 2 households to buy 2 goats in Huoi Nhuc village, Pha Danh commune, with 2 million VND in cash...
