The Hmong people in Mai Son celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year).
(Baonghean.vn) - Crossing the Ban Ve reservoir, upstream along the Nam Non river, then continuing across 8 mountains and 5 streams, following rugged rocky slopes, we arrived to celebrate Tet and welcome the Spring with the Mong ethnic people of Pieng Cooc village, a border commune (Mai Son district, Tuong Duong province).
In the spring weather, clouds still blanket the village, with only the distant mountain peaks faintly visible. Piêng Coọc village has 48 households and 353 inhabitants. Previously, the Hmong people celebrated the Lunar New Year a month earlier, but now they celebrate it closer to the traditional Lunar New Year. And this year, the Hmong people in Tương Dương are happier thanks to the attention and support from the authorities at all levels... The spring festivities are colorful and diverse.
Here are some images we captured of the Mong people celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) in Mai Son commune:

Heartfelt moments by the warm hearth.
Watch cockfighting.
