The Ministry of Health said at noon on July 24 that the 57-year-old man suspected of being infected had tested positive for nCoV three times, but needed to wait for confirmation tests from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

The Da Nang Department of Health took samples for testing last night from people who had close contact with the suspected case at Hospital C, Da Nang Hospital, the family, daughter and mother of this person. 102 samples tested this morning were all negative for nCoV.

Da Nang C Hospital began to be locked down on the morning of July 24.

Initial epidemiological investigation shows that in the past month, the above-mentioned man has only been in Da Nang city, has not traveled outside the province, rarely traveled far from the residential area, only stayed at home to look after his grandchildren, communicated with neighbors around, and did not contact with strangers.

On July 20, he had a fever, cough, and a lot of phlegm, so he went to Da Nang C Hospital for examination and was suspected of having Covid-19. The first screening test result on July 23 using the Realtime RT-PCR method was positive for nCoV. On the same afternoon, he continued to have a second sample taken for testing, which also gave a positive result. The sample tested at the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang on the morning of July 24 was also positive.

From July 7 to now, he has visited the following locations: his house in Hoa Khanh Bac ward, Lien Chieu district; his mother's house in Hoa Quy ward, Ngu Hanh Son district; Ngu Hanh Son district Medical Center; Da Nang Hospital Cardiovascular Center; a relative's house and a wedding center in Hai Chau district; Da Nang C Hospital.

The Da Nang Department of Health has directed units to conduct epidemiological investigations, identify close contacts, quarantine, isolate areas, and prevent infection in the community.

Vietnam has gone 99 days without a community infection. All recent infections have been imported from abroad and have been quarantined immediately, so there is no risk of community transmission.

The total number of infections as of this morning is 412, of which 365 people have recovered. 47 patients are being treated, of which 4 have tested negative and 43 are positive.

The Ministry of Health always recommends that people and local authorities not be negligent or lose vigilance in disease prevention in the context of Covid-19 still developing complicatedly in the world.

At the end of this month, a group of more than 200 Vietnamese citizens, of whom 120 have been infected with nCoV, will be brought back to Vietnam from Equatorial Guinea (West Africa). It is expected that all patients will be admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi for treatment.
