While feeding the buffalo grass, a 52-year-old patient in Quang Binh was suddenly gored in the face by the animal, severely injuring his left eye.

The patient was admitted to the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi on April 13 with complex lacerations to his left eye and left cheekbone. The wound caused a rupture of the superior lacrimal duct, a tear of the conjunctiva, a transverse tear of the levator muscle, and protrusion of the orbital fat tissue. The patient also suffered a transverse tear of the eyebrow and a rupture of the lateral angle ligament.

Doctors performed emergency surgery to repair the wound. The patient is now in stable condition and is receiving treatment at the hospital.

The doctor said that the patient's eyeballs have not been damaged so it is unlikely to affect his vision. However, the patient still needs to be monitored.

Previously, the hospital’s ophthalmology department also received and operated on a number of cases where storks and chickens pecked at the eyes. The patients suffered severe sequelae, seriously affecting their eyesight.
