The first woman to receive a uterine transplant gives birth.
A Swedish woman has just become the first person to successfully give birth using a donated uterus.
This groundbreaking medical event offers hope to thousands of women who want to have children but no longer have a uterus.

The fortunate mother is now 36 years old. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing nearly 1.8 kg in September.
The mother was born without a uterus, although her ovaries were healthy. This defect occurs in 1 in 4,500 girls worldwide.
In 2013, she received a uterine transplant from a 61-year-old acquaintance. Adapting to the "foreign" uterus wasn't easy, as she had to take three different anti-rejection medications. Fortunately, however, her body began to adapt well to the donated uterus just six weeks after the transplant.
A year later, doctors implanted an in-vitro fertilized embryo, created from the couple's own eggs and sperm, into the uterus. The baby was born healthy after 31 weeks, despite the mother experiencing a difficult pregnancy due to high blood pressure and a high risk of rejection.
"When the baby was born and cried loudly, we felt less worried because it was a good sign that the baby was healthy," said Professor Matts Brannstrom of the obstetrics department at the University of Gothenburg, who performed this special delivery.
