Laëtitia Nguyen walked down the aisle alone before exchanging vows with herself on the picturesque Greek island of Santorini last May.

The 38-year-old finance manager, who lives in Reims, France, had planned her dream wedding with her fiancé, whom she had been in a relationship with for three years. However, three months before the wedding, he suddenly became distant and eventually broke up with Laëtitia.

"My fiancé and I wanted to have children after we got married and had a lot of plans. We both wanted to have a wonderful wedding. We were both proud to be husband and wife and were involved in the preparations for the big day,"Metro"But in mid-February, he said goodbye and I didn't understand why. I'm still very hurt and always will be. But this life is a gift, and I have to enjoy it," Laëtitia said.

Laëtitia's wedding was the first solo wedding in Santorini, Greece, costing $23,200 and her wedding dress costing around $4,000.

"You can't erase the day, so what I need to do is make it fun and meaningful. It's exactly like a normal wedding, just without the groom," Laëtitia shared.

Guests at the Vietnamese woman's wedding included her parents, her sister, her sister's fiancé and a few close friends.

Laëtitia froze her eggs in the hope that she would one day have children. The woman said she wanted to get married to affirm her self-worth, and revealed that marrying herself had made her more confident.

"I was proud of myself and grateful for my family and friends," Laëtitia said. "I just needed something positive and meaningful that day, to forget all the drama and sadness that had happened. It was humiliating to be dumped, especially right before the wedding. This ceremony helped me regain my confidence and reconnect with myself. It was like my rebirth. If no man wanted to marry me, I would marry myself, because I know I'm an interesting person. I'm not ashamed of that," Laëtitia declared.

After the wedding, Laëtitia stayed in Santorini for a few weeks. She admitted that she no longer believes in love, and is slowly recovering from that trauma."My friends and family have always supported me and they are not surprised. I always do things that are unconventional and never give up easily, because I try to think positively in everything," Laëtitia said.
