Woman evades temperature measurement, snatches mask, slaps police officer

On the afternoon of April 3, Ngo Quyen District Police (Hai Phong) announced that the unit had detained Vu Thi Thu Van, born in 1977, residing at 92 Dinh Dong, Dong Hai Ward, Le Chan District, to complete the case file for opposing the force on duty to prevent and fight the Covid-19 epidemic.

On the same morning, at the basement entrance to the 11th-floor apartment building D2, where the People's Committee of Dong Quoc Binh Ward had set up a medical checkpoint to measure the body temperature of people entering and leaving, Ms. Vu Thi Thu Van went through to get her car. When a member of the medical team asked to check her body temperature, Ms. Van did not agree and argued.

The task force asked Ms. Van to comply with the temperature measurement regulations, but the subject immediately threw away the thermometer and took his car and left. Not stopping there, about 5 minutes later, Ms. Van returned and continued to speak loudly.

Upon receiving the news, Dong Quoc Binh Ward Police immediately dispatched Lieutenant Vu Xuan Quan, a local police officer, to resolve the matter. However, even when the police asked Ms. Van to comply with the temperature check regulations, she not only refused to comply, but also snatched her mask and slapped Lieutenant Quan.

Immediately after that, Dong Quoc Binh Ward Police promptly detained Ms. Van and brought her to the headquarters. Many people who witnessed the incident were outraged by her behavior of causing trouble, disregarding the law, and resisting law enforcement officers and requested that it be handled seriously, especially in the context of the whole city focusing on the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.
