Mr. Luong Sy Cuong, Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Que Phong district, said that the Thai people have a lot of folk experience in forecasting the weather throughout the year, which is very special and quite accurate.
By looking at certain plants or animals living around them, Thai people can predict what the weather will be like in the coming year.
According to the belief and experience of the people, if the ants build their nests in the low foliage, that year will be rainy and stormy. On the contrary, if the yellow ants build their nests in the tops of tall trees, that year will be a year with little rain and storms.

Thai people also believe that when the black ants on the ground move a lot and in an upward direction, it means that in the following days there will be heavy and long-lasting rain.
In 2017, palm growers in Western Nghe An were extremely excited because they had a bumper palm crop. Every tree was laden with fruit and ready to be harvested. However, every year when the palm crop is good, Thai people prepare mentally and buy supplies to welcome a cold, icy winter.
