The first Vietnamese to 'enter' the French Academy of Overseas Sciences
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien (University of Economics and Law) will be admitted as an official member of the French Overseas Academy of Sciences.
The University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) announced that on November 17, the Overseas Academy of Sciences (Académie des sciences d'Outre-Mer) of the French Republic will hold a ceremony to officially admit Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien as a member.
Mr. Dien is the first Vietnamese to become an official member of this Institute.

The Overseas Academy of Sciences was founded in 1922 and is considered a highly scholarly institute in France. Its members are divided into two groups: official and independent.Among the 41 current official members, many are former politicians from Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Brazil...
Previously, Mr. Dien was awarded the Legion of Honor and the title of Knight for his contributions to the development of France-Vietnam relations. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Francophone University Agency and President of the Association of Francophone Universities in the Asia-Pacific region.
As a law expert, nearly 10 years ago, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien became Deputy Head of the Faculty of Economics (Ho Chi Minh City National University), which was later upgraded to the University of Economics and Law.He is currently the vice principal of the school, in charge of managing scientific research and international cooperation activities in the fields of law, inspection and testing.
