In Nghi Long (Nghi Loc), due to recent flooding, the entire melon area was “wiped out”. The land was wet, so people did not have time to plant alternative vegetables, so in the fields, mainly sweet potato and dry water spinach. Currently, people have just plowed, dried the soil and prepared to plant squash for shoots and fruits.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, a trader in Quynh Luu, specializing in vegetable trading at Quan Lau market (Truong Thi ward) said: “Currently, the supply of vegetables in Quynh Luu is quite limited, not as diverse as before. Meanwhile, wholesale at the wholesale market is also limited due to difficult circulation. Currently, the prices of all kinds of green vegetables have increased by 10-30%. The most obvious increase is green squash and pumpkin, which increased by about 2,000 - 3,000 VND/kg; cabbage, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes increased by 5,000 - 7,000 VND/kg; passionflower increased by 10,000 VND/kg; Malabar spinach increased by 2,000 - 3,000 VND/bunch; only water spinach and sweet potato vegetables have stable prices due to the harvest season.”
In supermarkets and food stores, vegetable prices are stable, but the variety of products is not as rich and diverse as before. Compared to markets, vegetable prices here are 20-25% higher.
