On May 17, in Tan Dan commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province, a car fire occurred. The initial cause was determined to be straw stuck in the car's chassis and exhaust pipe. These are areas with very high temperatures when the car is in operation.
Currently, localities are in the harvest season. This is also the time of year with quite high temperatures. In addition to hindering traffic, drying straw on the road poses a very high risk of fire and explosion for vehicles, especially old cars with many areas of oil accumulation.
If there is straw on the road, when the car is running, the high exhaust temperature will easily cause a fire.
In addition, in areas where straw is dried in thick layers, there is a risk of straw getting caught under the vehicle, causing the wheel to get stuck. When the driver steps on the gas, the engine heats up, so the heat will make the straw burn faster.
To avoid the risk of fire or explosion, drivers should proactively avoid routes where straw is exposed to the sun if possible.
In case of emergency, after going all the way, the driver should stop the car and check if there is any straw stuck under the car.
Cleaning the engine and spraying the car's undercarriage before each trip is also an effective preventive measure, helping to clean remaining oil stains, minimizing risks.
For motorbikes, traveling on roads with straw drying also poses a significant risk. Straw drying on the road can cover hard objects and rough roads. If not seen, when driving over these obstacles, the vehicle can easily skid and the driver can lose control of the steering wheel, which can cause an accident.
