Using scented wipes is a convenient way to clean dirty hands and feet; however, this very convenience can have negative impacts on health.

Certain toxic substances are found in scented paper.

Many people now use scented paper towels to wipe their mouths and eating utensils such as bowls, chopsticks, and glasses. However, this habit is both unhygienic and poses many potential health risks.

Using scented dryer sheets is convenient, but it poses several potential health risks.

Some toxic substances found in dryer sheets, such as acetaldehyde and benzene, are not safe even at the lowest levels. Exposure to these hazardous compounds can lead to respiratory disorders, increased frequency and severity of asthma attacks, skin irritation, runny nose, headaches, and other illnesses.

According to fragrance researcher Anne Steineman, dryer sheets contain many toxic chemicals that can cause cancer and hormonal imbalances. In particular, dryer sheets contain acetaldehyde – a chemical that is "potentially carcinogenic".

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) issued by the Department of Industry since the 1990s, the following is a list of chemicals in fabric softeners and dryer sheets that have not been tested for safety.

• Benzyl acetate: Linked to pancreatic cancer.

• Benzyl alcohol: Irritates the upper respiratory tract.

• Ethanol: Listed as a toxic substance by the EPA, it can disrupt the central nervous system.

• Limonene: A carcinogen.

• A-Terpineol: May cause respiratory problems, including fatal edema, and central nervous system damage.

• Ethyl Acetate: A narcotic substance on the EPA's list of hazardous substances.

• Camphor: Causes central nervous system disorders.

• Chloroform: Causes neurotoxicity and paralysis, and is carcinogenic.

• Linalool: An anesthetic that disrupts the central nervous system.

• Pentane: A chemical known to be harmful if inhaled.
