Danger lurks from the unfinished bridge in Quynh Luu

(Baonghean.vn) - Bau Xa spillway connecting hamlet 6 with hamlet 7, Quynh Lam commune (Quynh Luu), invested by Quynh Luu district People's Committee, started construction in April 2015. The project is 87 m long, with an estimated cost of about 7.5 billion VND, including the main item of a spillway for heavy trucks.and roads for people and primitive vehicles to travel during floods.

Bau Xa spillway bridge has been basically completed after nearly 1 year of construction, with 2 main items: the upper bridge for people and small vehicles and the spillway for trucks below.

After nearly a year of construction, the main items such as the bridge and the spillway have been basically completed. However, for the past few months, the remaining items such as the road connecting the spillway to the two ends of the residential road have not been implemented, and construction vehicles have also completely withdrawn. For the above reason, people can only go under the spillway and cannot travel on the bridge.

Mr. Ho Van Thao - head of hamlet 7, Quynh Lam commune said: The whole hamlet has 130 households/560 people, every day people and vehicles have to go across the spillway. What people here worry about the most is that dozens of children have to study and go back and forth every day across this spillway. In the dry season it is still bearable, but in the rainy season, the lake floods and flows rapidly over the spillway, making travel very difficult and life-threatening.

The road connecting the two sides of the bridge from the residential road of hamlets 6 and 7 is not yet completed and has no warning posts, so it is very dangerous to travel at night and in storms.

Bau Xa spillway, Quynh Lam commune, has an area of ​​nearly 10 hectares and is also the place to drain water from mountainous communes to low-lying areas of Quynh Luu district. In addition to providing irrigation water for Quynh Lam commune, in the rainy season, after just one rain, the water floods and flows over the spillway, making it very dangerous for people to travel. A few years ago, 3 people drowned while crossing this spillway during the rainy season.

The top of the bridge is full of rocks and dirt, making it impassable for vehicles.

It is currently the rainy and stormy season, so the people of Quynh Lam commune really hope that the investor and the construction unit will check and review the items, continue construction to soon hand over and put the project into use, ensuring safe travel for the people./.
