On December 8, Mr. Giang Seo Phu, former Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee, passed away at the age of 67.

Mr. Giang Seo Phu (born November 16, 1951), former member of the Party Central Committee of the 9th, 10th, and 11th terms; Secretary of the Party Committee; Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; National Assembly Delegate of the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Lao Cai province, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on December 8, at Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi, at the age of 67.

The funeral service for former Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee Giang Seo Phu will be held from 6:30 to 8:45 on December 11 at the National Funeral House, 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. The memorial service will be held at 8:45 on December 11. The burial will be on the morning of December 13 at the Bac Ha District Cemetery, Lao Cai Province.

Mr. Giang Seo Phu was born on November 16, 1951; hometown is Ban Pho commune, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province; permanent residence is Yen Hoa ward, Cau Giay district, Hanoi city.

Mr. Giang Seo Phu was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 9th, 10th, and 11th terms; Secretary of the Party Committee; Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; National Assembly Delegate of the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Lao Cai province. He was awarded the First Class Independence Medal, the National Great Unity Medal by the Party and the State; 39 years of Party membership and many other noble awards.

From September 1973 to December 1980: He was a judge, Chief Justice of Bac Ha District People's Court; Judge of Hoang Lien Son Provincial People's Court.

From January 1981 to January 1984: He was a member of the Standing Committee of Bac Ha District Party Committee; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ha District, Hoang Lien Son Province.

From January 1984 to January 1986: Mr. Giang Seo Phu held the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of Bac Ha District Party Committee, Hoang Lien Son province.

From January 1986 to December 1990: He held the position of Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ha district, Hoang Lien Son province; then studied at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.

From January 1991 to December 1994: He was a member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ha District Party Committee, Lao Cai province.

From January 2001 to December 2005: He held the position of Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Lao Cai province.

At the 9th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Giang Seo Phu was elected to the Party Central Committee.

From December 2005 to July 2007: He was a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee.

At the 10th and 11th National Congresses, he continued to be elected to the Party Central Committee.
