"Kata Queen" Nguyen Hoang Ngan was Vietnam's biggest hope for a gold medal on October 2nd. She easily defeated Taalaibek Kyzy Vanessa (Kyrgyzstan) 5-0. Then, Hoang Ngan easily beat Tamang Bimala (Nepal) in the semi-finals to advance to the final.
In the final round, Hoang Ngan competed against Shimizu Kiyou (Japan). Shimizu Kiyou is only 21 years old but is considered one of the most promising fighters at this year's Asian Games. Despite performing very well in the final, Hoang Ngan was unable to convince the judges. The final score was 5-0 in favor of the Japanese fighter, Shimizu Kiyou.

With this result, Vietnamese sports once again "missed out" on a gold medal, a very regrettable outcome. Currently, the Vietnamese sports delegation has 10 silver medals but only 1 gold medal, ranking 21st out of 33 delegations. Speaking after winning the silver medal, Hoang Ngan said: "I truly feel very regretful that I couldn't bring home a gold medal for the country. I completed all the events with my best effort, but unfortunately, there were some points in the final event that weren't perfect. My Japanese opponent is a young martial artist, but she performed well and tried very hard."
In Taekwondo, Le Huynh Chau is performing exceptionally well. Her opponent in the quarterfinals will be Kitwijarn Akkarin (Thailand). Besides Le Huynh Chau, martial artists Ha Thi Nguyen and Pham Thi Thu Hien have also qualified for the quarterfinals. The chances of Taekwondo winning a medal today are quite bright.
