The Russian Transport Ministry said the black box was transferred to the Russian Defense Ministry's research and analysis center in Moscow yesterday for experts to decode.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the black box could provide important clues about the cause of the crash of the Tu-154 plane, which was found in the Black Sea at a depth of just 17 meters and about 1.6 kilometers from the coast.
Although investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the accident and terrorism has been ruled out, the Russian Federal Security Service has given four possible causes of the accident: pilot error, technical error, fuel error or an object in the engine.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had found the first black box recording the flight path of the Tu-154. The ministry also said that it had found many pieces of the ill-fated plane, including a part of the engine body found at a depth of 30 meters and about 1.7 kilometers from shore, the second engine part and the tail of the plane. In addition, 12 bodies and 156 body parts were recovered from the crash site and are being transferred to Moscow for DNA testing.
