Causes of car difficulty starting

A car that is difficult to start is not a dangerous problem, but it can cause psychological discomfort and make moving more difficult.

Here are some of the main causes of difficulty starting your car:

Weak or damaged battery

The battery is the electrical storage part of the car. Therefore, when the battery charge decreases, the engine will have difficulty starting, this is the most common cause of car difficulty starting.

If the car is used regularly, the alternator will charge the battery. If the car is left in one place for a long time and is only used occasionally, the battery's power will gradually decrease, causing it to lose power or run out of power.

Poor starter

The car starter has the function of exploiting the energy of the car battery. Therefore, a bad starting system is one of the reasons why the car has problems when starting.

Faulty key

Although modern integrated car keys offer many benefits, they are prone to technical errors. For example, the fingerprint recognition system between the key and the lock may not recognize the key due to sweaty or wet hands, or the anti-theft system may get confused and prevent you from starting the car...

Oil is too thick

As the temperature drops, the oil in your car's engine becomes thicker. If the oil is too thick, it won't circulate properly through the engine, starving the parts of it of lubrication. In that case, the engine will have to work harder to push the oil around. This can lead to problems starting.

Unsafe engine oil

If the user does not pour enough or uses old lubricating oil, it will also greatly affect the efficiency of the lubrication system. At that time, the friction between engine parts will increase, causing the engine to overheat.

Low fuel level

It is recommended to keep your fuel tank full or at least half full during the winter months. Cold temperatures can cause a smaller amount of fuel to condense than in a vehicle with a full tank. If the fuel level gets too low, the fuel lines can freeze due to condensation, preventing fuel from being delivered to the engine and making it harder to start the vehicle.

Bad solenoid valve

Basically, the solenoid valve is an intermediate component that connects and allows electricity to flow from the battery to the starter. That is why it is difficult to start a car if the solenoid valve is damaged or worn. If there is no sound from the starter when you turn the key, then the solenoid valve is most likely faulty.

Faulty fuel injector system

Fuel injection systems are found in many car models. Clogged injectors will make it difficult to start the car.

In addition, there are also cases where the injector is faulty and does not work. In that case, what needs to be done is to replace the injector for the vehicle.

Overloaded vehicles

Overloaded vehicles not only affect the cooling system but also affect many other components. Overloaded vehicles when climbing slopes make the water in the cooling system hotter, causing the engine to overheat.

The gear lever is not in the correct position.

This is a common problem for new drivers. If you put the key in the ignition and start the engine but the dashboard lights don’t come on and the car doesn’t move, you should check the gear position.

With automatic transmission, you need to put the gear lever in position P and with manual transmission, press the clutch pedal.
