Former Deputy Prime Minister sued for insulting the King
Mr. Lu Lai Sreng - former Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia was sued for insulting the King and defaming the Prime Minister.
This afternoon, through his lawyer, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen filed a lawsuit against Mr. Lu Lai Sreng, former Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, for insulting the King and defaming Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Mr. Lu Lai Sreng is a member of the Royalist Party, who served as Deputy Prime Minister in the early years of Pol Pot's liberation, and is now retired. A few days ago, on his personal website, Mr. Lu Lai Sreng insulted the King, saying that the King was a weak person and slandering Prime Minister Hun Sen for bribing members of the Royalist Party in dealing with Mr. Kem Sokha.

In the lawsuit, in addition to criminal prosecution, the Prime Minister's lawyer, Mr. Ky Tec, proposed to compensate the Prime Minister's honor with 500 million riyals (equivalent to 2.5 billion VND). A few days ago, Prince Ra Na Rit, Chairman of the Royalist Party, said he would also sue Mr. Lu Lai Sreng for insulting the Royal Family.
This morning, the Cambodian Minister of Justice also sent an official dispatch requesting the Cambodian Justice Department to strictly handle the case of Lu Lai Sreng, in order to prevent other possible cases from occurring. According to the Cambodian Immigration Department, yesterday Mr. Lu Lai Sreng left Cambodia for Thailand on a Bangkok Air flight at 6:00 a.m../.
