Nguyen Thi Oanh overcame the challenge, winning 2 gold medals in 30 minutes
(Baonghean.vn) - After winning the 1,500 m gold medal, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh continued to overcome challenges to finish first in the 3,000 m obstacle course.
On the afternoon of May 9, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh entered the women's 3,000m steeplechase. This will be part of the plan to defend the gold medal of the girl from Bac Giang when she crossed the finish line first at the 32nd SEA Games taking place in Vietnam.
On the morning of May 9, the organizers unexpectedly changed the schedule, pushing the women's 1,500m and 3,000m obstacle course events into the same competition. Notably, the starting times of the two events were only 20 minutes apart.
Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in the 1,500m final at 5:30 p.m. She then competed in the 3,000m steeplechase final starting at 5:50 p.m. Nguyen Thi Oanh only had a break of about 15 minutes, including the procedure of receiving her number and preparing for the next run.

At exactly 5:50 p.m., the athletes entered the competition for the women's 3,000m steeplechase. In addition to Nguyen Thi Oanh, Vietnam's athletics team also had one other athlete, Nguyen Thi Huong. The two Vietnamese athletes faced off against two athletes from the Philippines. |
