Nguyen Thi Thanh was stripped of the title of Miss Vietnam Tourism 2017.
The Miss Tourism Organizing Committee revoked the title of the beauty from Bac Ninh after a working session with the Department of Performing Arts on the morning of March 13 in Hanoi.
In the wake of the controversy surrounding Nguyen Thi Thanh being disqualified for dental surgery in Miss Vietnam and winning the title of 1st Runner-up of Miss Tourism Vietnam 2017, on the morning of March 13, the Department of Performing Arts in coordination with the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism had a working session with the contest's Organizing Committee.

Responding to the press, Mr. Le Minh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts, said that at the meeting, the contest's Organizing Committee recognized errors in the organization of the contest and the recruitment process, with some contestants not complying with the law, criteria, and rules.
Therefore, the Organizing Committee seriously accepted, learned from experience and committed to withdrawing the prize of contestant Nguyen Thi Thanh; at the same time, sent a written report to the leaders of the Department of Performing Arts and the Ministry Inspectorate on March 15.

Previously, the final night of the Miss Tourism Vietnam 2017 contest held in Ho Chi Minh City ended with the title of Miss Khanh Ngan. Contestant Nguyen Thi Thanh won the title of First Runner-up and contestant Lien Phuong - Second Runner-up.
However, in the case of Nguyen Thi Thanh - a contestant who was eliminated from Miss Vietnam 2016 due to cosmetic surgery, the Organizing Committee was immediately summoned to explain. According to Article 19 - Decree 79/2012/ND-CP, contestants must have "natural beauty", so Nguyen Thi Thanh's porcelain teeth replacement is considered illegal.
Thus, the first Miss Tourism Vietnam 2017 has set a "record" in revoking the title just a few days after the contestant was crowned. Nguyen Thi Thanh also became the first Vietnamese beauty to have her title officially revoked.
