Nguyen Tien Minh rises to 5th in the world rankings.
On the afternoon of August 15th, Nguyen Tien Minh received good news, moving up from 7th to 5th place in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings.
Tien Minh's current ranking is thanks to his historic achievement of winning the bronze medal for the first time at the recently concluded World Championships in Guangzhou, China. Previously, Tien Minh also reached world number 5 (December 2, 2010), the highest ranking of his badminton career.

Upon receiving the good news, Nguyen Tien Minh said that being ranked 5th in the world gives him an advantage in the draw for international tournaments.
Currently competing in the India Badminton League (IBL) in India, Tien Minh revealed that he is very tired after the World Badminton Championships and the extensive travel.
After winning his first match with the Pune Pistons (Tien Minh lost the singles match), Tien Minh had to travel by plane from Delhi to Lucknow to prepare for his second match against the Mumbai Masters on August 17th. Another difficulty for Tien Minh was that he didn't like the Indian food, which somewhat affected his physical recovery process.
