Former General Secretary Do Muoi passed away
According to the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Officials' Health, Comrade Do Muoi, former General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, passed away at 11:12 p.m. on October 1, 2018.

According to the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of the Health of Officials, Comrade Do Muoi, former General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, after a period of serious illness, despite the devoted treatment of the Party, the State, professors and doctors at home and abroad, and the wholehearted care of his family, due to old age and poor health, he passed away at 11:12 p.m. on October 1, 2018, at the 108 Central Military Hospital.
Information about the funeral of comrade Do Muoi will be announced later.
Comrade Do Muoi was born on February 2, 1917, in Dong My commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi city.
Early in his revolutionary activities and becoming a member of the Communist Party, he was trained and matured through the periods of resistance, building and defending the Fatherland. Comrade Do Muoi has held many positions and made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
During his years as General Secretary of the Party (June 1991-December 1997), with his rich practical experience, Comrade Do Muoi, together with the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, united, led and directed the entire Party, people and army to continue implementing the renovation policy, building and defending the Fatherland, successfully completing the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the people. He was awarded the 80-year Party membership badge./.
