The 2025 ASEAN Police Football Open Tournament takes place from July 5 to July 15 at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi) and PVF Center (Hung Yen).

From July 5 to 15, Vietnam will host the 2025 ASEAN Police Football Tournament. The tournament will bring together 8 teams, including Vietnam Police Team I, Vietnam Police Team II and 6 guest representatives from Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Timor Leste and Australia. The matches will take place at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi) and PVF Center (Hung Yen).

This is the first time in more than a decade that this traditional tournament has been held again, after 1998, 2007 and 2012.

This year, fans hope that players like Nguyen Quang Hai, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Nguyen Filip, Phan Van Duc... of the Hanoi Police Club will compete in the People's Police uniform at the tournament.

Regarding this, the Organizing Committee said that the players are on a break after the 2024/25 national professional season. Therefore, the call-up of professional players to participate in the ASEAN Police Football Tournament will be carefully considered. Basically, the participants of the tournament come from the Police force of Vietnam and other countries.

Ninh Binh introduces Spanish coach

On the afternoon of July 2, Ninh Binh officially introduced Spanish coach Gerard Albadalejo. The strategist born in 1983 will lead the team in the 2025/26 season.

"I am very happy to receive such a warm welcome in Vietnam. We are here to accompany the club, together towards new successes. The greatest strength of the team is the spirit of solidarity as a family. I see this as an exciting and inspiring challenge. Now it is time to get down to work because actions are always more important than words," coach Gerard Albadalejo shared at the announcement ceremony.

Mr. Gerard is not a strange name to the Spanish professional world. Before coming to Ninh Binh, this coach held the role of assistant at Lleida Esportiu, a team playing in Segunda Division B. From 2015 to 2017, he was promoted to lead the reserve team, before officially taking charge of the first team in July 2017. The biggest mark of the 1983-born coach was in the 2017/18 season. He helped Lleida create an earthquake in the Spanish King's Cup with a 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad in the round of 16.

After his time at Lleida, Albadalejo continued to work at many clubs in the Spanish professional system such as Orihuela (2019–2021), Esportiu Europa (2022), Atletico Saguntino (2022–2023) and Badalona II (2023–2024). He temporarily stopped coaching from September 2024.

Before his debut, Mr. Gerard spent 2 months carefully researching Vietnamese football and Ninh Binh. With a youthful, modern and tactically in-depth working style, the Spanish coach is expected to turn Ninh Binh into a strong team both professionally and mentally, right in the first season in V.League.

Arsenal is about to "explode" with the blockbuster transfer of Viktor Gyokeres

Recently, the London team has been considering options to strengthen their attack and now they are focusing on Gyokeres.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri - Arsenal feel they are "touching the finish line" as they get closer to a deal with the Sporting Lisbon striker. Gyokeres himself tried to flee Sporting this summer, when it emerged that an agreement between him and the club to leave for a reduced fee was not fulfilled.

Sporting president Federico Varandas has said the club are willing to let Gyokeres leave for less than his £80m release clause, but they will not accept the £58m asking price demanded by the Swedish striker's representatives.

Arsenal are currently negotiating a final fee with Sporting Lisbon, which is expected to be between £65 million and £68 million, including add-ons. If the deal is approved, Gyokeres would be a very high-quality addition to the Gunners' attack.

Last season, Arsenal lacked a striker with good finishing and timing. Gyokeres was expected to shine at the Emirates Stadium, after a disappointing spell at Brighton in his youth.

Nguyen Xuan Son suddenly "lost" more than 1.5 billion VND

Transfermarkt has just updated the latest transfer value of Nguyen Xuan Son. Accordingly, the number 1 striker of Nam Dinh Club has decreased from 700 thousand Ruro to 650 thousand Euro, a decrease of 50 thousand Euro, equivalent to more than 1.5 billion VND.

However, Nguyen Xuan Son is still the most expensive player in the Vietnamese team. Right behind him is defender Jason Quang Vinh with a valuation of 500 thousand Euros. This valuation does not affect Nguyen Xuan Son, because he has signed a 6-year contract with Nam Dinh Club.

Despite recovering from a knee injury, Nguyen Xuan Son still showed his influence in the V.League. In the 2024/2025 season, he only played 7 matches for Nam Dinh Club but still managed to score 7 goals and have 1 assist. The Nam Dinh team then won the V.League championship for the second consecutive time, an achievement that Xuan Son contributed to in the early stages of the season.
