At the M-150 Cup 2017 international friendly tournament held in Buriram (Thailand), the two U23 teams of Southeast Asia, Vietnam and Thailand, both had impressive starts.
With U23 Vietnam, coach Park Hang-seo's team defeated U23 Myanmar with a score of 4-0 to temporarily take the top spot in Group B, thanks to a double from Quang Hai and two goals from Van Long and Cong Phuong.
Just a few hours later in Group A, U23 Thailand had their opening match against U23 Japan. After a goalless first half, the home team opened the scoring in the 49th minute thanks to Saringkan. Although U23 Japan equalized later thanks to captain Yuta Kamiya, in the 63rd minute, Chaiyawat Buran had a classy finish to seal a 2-1 victory for the home team.

He believes that Vietnam is better than Thailand in developing youth training. |
Both had a favorable start in the M-150 Cup 2017. More broadly, Vietnamese and Thai youth football have made certain progress in the past 5 years.
Comparing the development of the two football cultures, Mr. Scott McIntyre - an Australian journalist writing for Fox Sports Asia commented: "In my opinion, Vietnamese youth football is better than Thailand. They have midfielders with good thinking ability. If we use the right people and follow the right path, Vietnam will be able to win the Asian championship in the next 15 years. In no more than 20 years, you can enter the World Cup."
