The coach from Nghe An officially parted ways with Binh Duong after a series of bad matches.
After nearly a year of working together, Coach Nguyen Cong Manh has officially parted ways with Binh Duong Club. The decision was made after the 1-3 loss to Hong Linh Ha Tinh in round 21 of V-League 2024-2025, ending this coach's turbulent journey on the coaching bench.

Coach Nguyen Cong Manh grew up from the training centerLam River Nghe An. This coach has led Binh Duong since December 2024, replacing his predecessor Hoang Anh Tuan. He had a good start when he won consecutively with Binh Duong and brought the team to the semi-finals of the 2024-2025 National Cup.
However, in recent rounds, Binh Duong has experienced a series of terrible declines. Since the beginning of March, the team has only won 1 point after 6 matches (1 draw, 5 losses), scoring 4 goals and conceding 16 times.
Currently, Binh Duong is only 6 points ahead of second-to-last Binh Dinh but has played 1 more match. With only 5 rounds left in the season, the team from the land of Thu is facing the risk of falling into a risky relegation race.
However, the chance to decide for themselves is still there. According to statistics of the last 10 seasons, teams need about 27 points to stay in the league. Binh Duong is approaching this mark and only needs one more win to consolidate their position.
Previously, after the 0-3 defeat to Hanoi in round 19, coach Cong Manh resigned right at the press conference. However, after being persuaded by the leadership, he continued his job. But two consecutive losses to Nam Dinh and Ha Tinh made him lose his seat.
During his time leading Binh Duong, coach Cong Manh was highly regarded for his expertise. He pursued a modern style of play, focusing on tactical thinking, vertical coordination and diverse wing attacks. However, he had difficulty building cohesion and controlling the locker room.
Despite heavy investment in personnel, many Binh Duong players still underperformed, failing to meet the expectations of fans and the management. Over the past 6 years, the team has changed many coaches, from the daring Tran Minh Chien, the youthful Nguyen Cong Manh, to experienced names such as Hoang Anh Tuan, Le Huynh Duc or Nguyen Thanh Son, but all of them left quietly because they did not bring results.
According to internal sources, the candidate to replace coach Cong Manh is former striker Nguyen Anh Duc. Mr. Duc just left Binh Phuoc Club in the middle of the season. This strategist spent 13 years playing for Binh Duong and is a very influential figure in the locker room. Although he has not led any V-League team, Anh Duc has coaching experience in Long An and Binh Phuoc.
Coach Cong Manh's departure from the club is considered a necessary move to refresh the team in the decisive phase. However, with the remaining challenging schedule, Binh Duong's ability to stay in the league is still open.
