According to this announcement, in early 2019, the Ministry of Defense should play a decisive role in creating the international high-level warning operational group "Spearhead".
However, the 9th Tank Brigade in Münster, which was scheduled to carry out this task, currently has only 9 of its 44 Leopard-2s with the necessary combat capability and 3 of its 14 Marder infantry vehicles.
The reasons for this situation are lack of spare parts and high maintenance costs. The air force is not immune to problems in fulfilling its NATO obligations, Welt wrote.
The combat readiness of Eurofighter and Tornado aircraft, CH-53 transport helicopters has decreased significantly: according to statistics, on average each is in combat readiness only 4 months a year.
