According to informed sources, Mr. Kim Jong-un returned to Pyongyang on a private plane, called Chammae-1, taking off from Beijing International Airport at around 5:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. Hanoi time).
Hours earlier, the North Korean leader visited a farming science center in Beijing, a sign of the North Korean government's growing interest in agricultural reform.
The center is also believed to be the facility that a group of North Korean officials, led by Pak Thae-song, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, visited during their visit to China last May.
Earlier in the day, two VIP cars and other vehicles believed to be carrying Kim Jong-un and his delegation left the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. A motorcade was later seen entering the research center.
In addition, the North Korean leader also appeared to visit Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. on the afternoon of June 20, a move related to his efforts to promote partnerships in the construction sector.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Mr. Kim's visit to the company could be seen as preparation for large-scale joint economic projects, in case sanctions on North Korea are eased.
Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that at the China-North Korea summit, President Xi Jinping expressed strong support for efforts to denuclearize North Korea and pledged to continue playing a constructive role in this process.
