(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Vil Mirzayanov, a Russian chemist who participated in the creation of the nerve agent Novichok, used in the assassination of former spy Sergei Skripal in the UK, talked about the antidote to this chemical.

“First aid is provided by atropine and aphin. Other antidotes have been developed that are more effective. They are available and block the action of the poison. But they cannot save people,” Mirzayanov told the BBC in Russia.

Atropine is a medication used to treat certain neuroleptic and pesticide poisonings, as well as some symptoms of slow heart rate and decreased salivation during surgery. It is usually given by intravenous or intramuscular injection.

According to Mr Mirzayanov, “atrophine or aphin was injected into the bodies” of former spy Skripal and his daughter Yulia, even though their bodies had already suffered irreversible damage at the time of the attack.

On March 4, former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter were found in a coma and poisoned in Salisbury, England. London announced that the two were poisoned by the nerve agent Novichock, a military chemical produced in the Soviet era. The UK believes that Andrei Lugovoi, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma (the Russian lower house of parliament), a former official of the Russian military intelligence agency (GRU), who carried out the assassination of Alexander Litvinenko, a former FSB intelligence officer, under the direction of Russian officials in 2006, is involved in the attack on former spy Skripal./.
