Bao Nham Stone Church

(Baonghean.vn) -Bao Nham Church is located in Bao Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, close to National Highway 7A, about 50 km north of Vinh city.

From Dien Chau Town, follow National Highway 7A to Bao Thanh Commune, turn right, visitors will see with their own eyes the large church built entirely of stone from the 17th century. Officially started in 1888, Bao Nham Church was completed in 1904.

With Gothic architecture, modeled after the Luocxơ Cathedral (France), the main material for the church is Thanh stone quarried from Lam Son mountain (Thanh Hoa). The church is 37m high, 14m wide, and has a 28m high bell tower. On the tower are 3 bells cast in bronze, the heaviest bell weighs 800 kg, the second bell weighs 400 kg and the third bell is 180 kg. There are also 24 small stone towers, each 2.5m high. In front of the cathedral are 2 elaborately carved stone lions... Bao Nham Church is not only a place for spiritual activities of parishioners in the area but also a tourist attraction for visitors from near and far.
