Poet Hoang Nhuan Cam suddenly passed away

On the evening of April 20, on his personal page, poet Huu Viet sadly sent his farewell message to poet Hoang Nhuan Cam:"This is probably the last photo of my beloved brother! So sudden and unexpected! Another great poet in talent and great in personality has passed away."

Poet Hoang Nhuan Cam died at his home around 3-5pm because no one was around so it is not known exactly. Poet Tran Huu Viet said that 2 hours before his death, poet Hoang Nhuan Cam texted his son saying he could not attend the Book Day event in Ninh Binh. After that, no one could contact him. When his son came to unlock the house and take the poet to the hospital, there was nothing he could do. He died of respiratory failure.

The passing of the author of "Autumn Dice" made poet Tran Dang Khoa choke up: "It was so sudden!". He wrote:"Poet Hoang Nhuan Cam has suddenly passed away. According to reliable sources, this afternoon, poet Hoang Nhuan Cam had a program on Voice of Vietnam Radio but when it was time to go on air, he was nowhere to be seen. Reporters called his home but got no response. Relatives broke down the door and he was already dead. The estimated time of death was between 2 and 3 pm. Cam had lung disease. Perhaps due to a sudden blockage, he passed away. This is an irreparable loss. My condolences to the poet's family and readers who love Hoang Nhuan Cam."

Poet Hoang Nhuan Cam was born in 1952 in Hanoi, the first child of musician Hoang Giac. While studying at the Faculty of Literature (Hanoi University), in 1971 he joined the army and fought in the 325B Division on the Quang Tri front. In 1975, he returned to finish his university studies and in 1981 worked at the Vietnam Feature Film Studio.

After that, poet Hoang Nhuan Cam moved to work for Vietnam Television for a short time and then returned to Vietnam Feature Film Studio in 2005. Poet Hoang Nhuan Cam became famous for his character "Doctor Hoa Sung" in the show Meet at the Weekend and since then many fans called him by this name.

In addition to writing poetry, Hoang Nhuan Cam also writes film scripts and has participated in writing many major movies. Last year, he was also an advisor for the film script contest organized by the Cinema Department, but his health has deteriorated significantly.

Many poems by Hoang Nhuan Cam, most of which are love poems, are loved by the young generation, especially students, because they are associated with memories of youth and love with a youthful, vibrant poetic voice such as:The first leaf, Entering the front when cicadas were chirping, After a long wait, you finally came, The autumn dice...Besides poetry, he also writes screenplays and has acted in films.

Poet Hoang Nhuan Cam won First Prize in the Literature and Arts Newspaper Poetry Contest 1972-1973, and the Writers' Association Award in 1993 with his poetry collection "Autumn Dice". He is also famous for his character "Doctor Hoa Sung" in the program "Weekend Meeting" and his role as a poet in the movie "So Do".
