White House confirms US President received letter from North Korean leader
A photo on social media shows the North Korean official handing the letter to President Trump smiling.
According to Japan's NHK television channel, a White House official has just confirmed that US President Donald Trump received a letter from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un through Mr. Kim Yong-chol, one of the leader's close aides.

US President Donald Trump met with Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Yong-chol at the White House on January 18. A photo posted on Twitter shows the North Korean official handing a large white envelope to a smiling President Trump.
Another photo shows Kim Yong-chol and other North Korean delegates as well as US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US special envoy for North Korea Stephen Biegun sitting before President Trump in the Oval Office.
The White House did not disclose any details about the contents of the letter. However, the letter is believed to refer to the schedule of the planned summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The White House previously confirmed that the two US and North Korean leaders will have a second meeting at the end of February.
