Champions Monaco held by Montpellier
In the early morning of September 30, Montpellier caused a surprise when they held champion Monaco to a 1-1 draw at Louis II Stadium in the early match of round 8 of the French Championship (Ligue 1).

Monaco started the match better and took the lead in the 38th minute thanks to striker Radamel Falcao diving in from close range after a cross from the right wing by Rony Lopes. After the goal, Monaco continued to attack and created more dangerous situations but were unable to take advantage.

Monaco paid the price for not getting a second goal when the match entered extra time. The player who scored the equalizer for Montpellier was striker Souleymane Camara (90+3') with a close-range header after a header from Kevin Berigaud.
With this draw, Monaco ranked 2nd with 19 points, equal with Paris Saint Germain but played one more match than their opponent.
