The Malaysian low-cost airline has announced it will offer free flights to all Asian athletes who win medals at this year's Paralympic Games, including four members of the Vietnamese delegation.

Air Asia CEO Tony Fernandes announced this news on his personal Instagram and Facebook accounts yesterday. While gold medal winners will receive lifetime flights, silver and bronze medalists will also receive this benefit for 5 years and 3 years, respectively.

"Although the previous Olympics were already amazing, the Paralympics showed me what true determination is. Thank you to all the athletes for showing a never-give-up spirit, no matter how many difficulties we face," he wrote.

To date, Southeast Asia has had 8 athletes win gold medals, from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Vietnam's representative is weightlifter Le Van Cong. In addition, the Vietnamese team also won a silver medal from Vo Thanh Tung (swimming), and two bronze medals from Cao Ngoc Hung (javelin throw) and Dang Thi Linh Phuong (weightlifting).

In August, this Malaysian airline also announced a similar policy for athletes who won medals at the Olympics. Southeast Asian sports delegations won a total of 5 gold medals, including shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh of Vietnam.
