Japanese musician composes symphony about 10 Dong Loc girls

Symphony No. 6 "Ten Girls at Dong Loc Crossroads" is composer Oki Masao's heartfelt tribute to wartime heroines.

Carrying the heroic echoes of the historical years of fighting and victory of the Vietnamese people, the 2015 Vietnam – Japan Friendship Concert (JVCA Japan – Vietnam Friendship Concert) will take place on November 14 at the Opera House (Hanoi).

The program will feature works by famous Vietnamese and Japanese composers such as Hoang Duong, Trong Dai, Oki Masao, Sammy Fain... Opening with Hoang Duong's timeless work - Rhapsody "Bai ca chung thuy", followed by Trong Dai's Symphony "Giao mua" about the changing leaves of Hanoi's autumn sky. In addition, there will be the sweet melody of "Love is a many splendid thing" in the famous film of the same name from the 60s of the last century, composed by Sammy Fain. And "Folloric Dance Suite for orchestra" by Wada Kaoru written especially for the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.

In particular, composer Oki Masao brought a special composition - Symphony No. 6 "Ten girls at Dong Loc crossroads". Oki Masao shared that the bravery and sacrifice of the heroines during the war touched his heart. Symphony No. 6 is a tribute and sympathy to the heroines.

Led by Conductor Honna Testuji and Violinist Bui Cong Duy, the program promises to bring many emotions and connections, thereby increasing understanding of the culture and music between Vietnam and Japan./.
