Hong Nhung and musician Trinh Cong Son. |
In Hong Nhung's memory, on every birthday, musician Trinh Cong Son often woke up early, ironed his clothes, chose shoes, socks, watches, lighters, hats... in harmony, neatness and elegance like a French cinema star, walked out of the room with a bright smile, sparkling eyes, filling the house with an atmosphere of joy and happiness.
Although the musician has been gone for more than 20 years, Hong Nhung still remembers and contemplates the confidences and advice about life that musician Trinh Cong Son gave her.

Hong Nhung shared that one of the most memorable advices from musician Trinh Cong Son was: “If you see someone waving at you when you go out, wave back, because you don’t know if that person will still be in this world tomorrow.” During his lifetime, musician Trinh Cong Son once said that since he was young, he was always haunted by death, so you can see the impermanence of life always lingering in the songs he composed. That also explains his seemingly simple advice to singer Hong Nhung, but hidden deep inside is a lesson about love and gratitude for life. Life is truly impermanent, so we should always cherish every moment we are still present in this world, cherish every person who appears in our lives.
That love of life was encapsulated by Hong Nhung in the MV “Simple Beauty – Simple Beauty” with songs composed by herself including “Ngay nang len cho”, “Simple Beauty”, and “My Dream”. With a slow tempo, simple lyrics like “What is beautiful is always here around us. In the past, or in the present, it is still… honest love.”, Diva Hong Nhung considers the MV “Simple Beauty” as a spiritual gift that she wants to send to life, to musician Trinh Cong Son, and to millions of fans who have always followed Bong’s journey, from the early days of her career, until she grew up and became one of the 4 Divas of Vietnamese music.
