Tuong Duong district people contribute nearly 90 billion VND to build new rural areas

(Baonghean.vn) - In the 5 years from 2014 to 2019, the people of Tuong Duong district contributed nearly 90 billion VND to build new rural areas. This result was achieved thanks to the active mobilization of political, social and mass organizations, headed by the local Fatherland Front Committee.

According to the report, during the past term, the Fatherland Front at all levels of Tuong Duong district made many efforts in gathering and uniting people of all walks of life to promote patriotic traditions, overcome difficulties, and strive to successfully implement the goals and tasks of local socio-economic development.

Up to now, the whole district has 135/154 villages and hamlets recognized as cultural units; 4 communes have been recognized as meeting new rural standards; the poverty rate has decreased every year.

Implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", during the past term, the Fatherland Front at all levels has proactively and actively advised the Party Committees at the same level in mobilizing resources to eliminate dilapidated temporary houses for 405 poor households with a total value of more than 9.5 billion VND.

In coordination with the support from higher levels, we have supported breeding cows for 43 poor households, and also provided capital for 187 poor households to develop production and improve their lives. We have supported 132 poor students to overcome difficulties; and supported 378 poor people with special difficulties to examine and treat their illnesses.

The people of the whole district have contributed 87.3 billion VND to build new rural areas since the beginning of the term; donated 179,999m2land; 332,600 trees of all kinds; contributed 200,207 working days; built and repaired over 310 km of roads (including 68 km of rural concrete roads).

Implementing the program "For the poor" and the social security program, during the term, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tuong Duong district directly mobilized over 2.7 billion VND and received over 3.5 billion VND. Thanks to that, it has contributed significantly to reducing the poverty rate in the area from 45.8% (in 2014) to 30.48% in 2019.

With the spirit of "solidarity, democracy, innovation, consensus and renewal", the Congress agreed on the action program and specific solutions to realize the 5 action programs of the Tuong Duong District Fatherland Front, term XX, 2019 - 2024.

The congress democratically consulted and agreed on the number of new members to be 65.

Mr. Luong Ba Vin - Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee of Tuong Duong District Party Committee was consulted and elected to hold the position of Chairman of the District Fatherland Front Committee, term XX, 2019 - 2024.

Tuong Duong district has 6 ethnic groups. Of which, the Thai ethnic group has 53,401 people, accounting for 89.9%; the Khmu ethnic group has 9,926 people, accounting for 13.2%; the Mong ethnic group has 3,626 people, accounting for 4.8%; the Tay Poong ethnic group has 818 people, accounting for 1.1%; and the O Du ethnic group has 347 people, accounting for 0.47%.
