Identify and fight against the distortion and denial of the value and significance of the event of April 30, 1975

The value and significance of the event of April 30, 1975 are still there.

That victory demonstrated the revolutionary heroism and the strong vitality of Vietnamese culture and people, which not only the Vietnamese people but also progressive humanity in the world acknowledged, respected, were proud of and admired.

The day of total victory on April 30, 1975 entered the history of the nation as an unparalleled strategic end, becoming a symbol of Vietnamese intelligence and spirit, the pride of our nation and of progressive humanity in the world; liberating the South, unifying the Fatherland, ending 21 years of resistance war against the US, saving the country. This was the result of the great sacrifice and effort of the entire nation in the war.battle of witsandstrugglefierce, long-term struggle between us and the enemy; of leadership, direction, management, and command at the macro level combined with specific combat activities of each officer and soldier in each battlefield and unit.

That victory proves that a nation with a small land area and a small population, but closely united and resolutely fighting under the leadership of the Party with correct revolutionary guidelines and methods, holding high the two flags of national independence and socialism, and receiving the sympathy, support and assistance of revolutionary forces and progressive people in the world, can completely defeat all invading imperialist forces. Time will pass, but the victory of our people in the resistance war against the US to save the country will forever be recorded in the history of the nation as one of the most brilliant pages, a shining symbol of the complete victory of revolutionary heroism and the intelligence of the Vietnamese people, entering the history of the world as a great feat of the 20th century, an event of great international importance and profound contemporary significance.^[1].

The power of victory in the resistance war against the US to save the country with the Great Victory of Spring 1975, the peak of which was the Ho Chi Minh campaign leading to the total victory on April 30, had an impact and spread throughout the world; becoming the great pride of progressive humanity, a bright flame urging millions of hearts of colonial people, loving peace, protecting justice, gaining independence and freedom. Therefore, as soon as our people achieved the great victory of Spring 1975, all progressive humanity turned to Vietnam with admiration, shared the joy, and gave many good words and beautiful ideas to praise.great victoryof the Vietnamese people

By the end of 1975, there were hundreds of telegrams, speeches, and statements from over 100 countries, international communist, workers', and democratic organizations, and famous political activists congratulating and praising Vietnam. Not only socialist countries such as the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, North Korea, Eastern Europe, etc., but also capitalist countries such as England, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Japan, etc.; from countries in Asia such as India, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Iraq, Sri Lanka, etc. to countries in distant continents such as Australia, Canada, Brazil, Algeria, South Africa, Mozambique, Uganda, Sudan, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, etc.; from communist parties to the World Federation of Trade Unions, World Federation of Democratic Youth, World Federation of Scientists, International Federation of Students, World Peace Council, International Women's Organization, International Organization of Journalists, Asian-African People's Solidarity Organization, Tricontinental Solidarity Organization, Asian-African Journalists and Writers Association, Arab Jurists Association..., including the progressive people of America^[2].

Since then, historians have divided world history into the “post-Vietnam period”. Since then, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Liberation of the South on April 30, many valuable works have appeared in the world, many articles praising the glorious victory of the Vietnamese people have been solemnly published in the press of many countries. For 46 years now, humanity has been struggling to find the exact answer to the question:Why did Vietnam defeat the US empire??

Arguments distorting and denying the value and significance of the event of April 30, 1975

There is an argument to "rename April 30th appropriately" because it is not accepted that April 30th is the day of liberation of the South and reunification of the country. They explain in a distorted way that: Calling April 30th "Liberation Day" is ambiguous because it is impossible for the North to liberate the South; calling it "Unification Day" is very forced because the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Republic of Vietnam are two different countries; calling it "Peace Day" is not right because the country has not yet had peace; calling it "Friendship Day" is also not right because it continued to fight with Cambodia and China; it cannot be called "Independence Day" because there is no independence yet, nor can it be called "Freedom Day" because it was not until 2013 that the Constitution cautiously added "human rights, civil rights"; calling it "Reconciliation Day", "Harmony Day", "Slavery Day", "National Hatred Day", "Dark Day" are all incorrect. From then on, they proposed calling April 30 "Truth Day" to allow everyone to speak the truth.

There is also false information,distortthe resistance war against the US to save the country of the Vietnamese people. From denying the historical significance of the event of April 30, 1975, they moved on to denying the achievements of the country's renovation under the leadership of the Communist Party; blaming Ho Chi Minh for "introducing communism into Vietnam, leading to the situation of fratricide and bloodshed from 1954 to 1975". They praised the Republic of Vietnam without realizing its nature of "carrying a snake to bite the chicken at home" and "bringing an elephant to trample on the ancestors' graves".

Someone even posted a video clip on Facebook with the news: “It should be called the Front for Invading the Republic of Vietnam, not the Front for the Liberation of the South; it should not be called liberation and unification, but it should be called the Vietnamese communists invading and robbing the Republic of Vietnam.” They even distorted that “the April 30 event was a disgrace, not a joy for the Vietnamese communists”; they brazenly defamed the national tradition: “A nation with a weak, servile spirit. When the enemy comes to the border: we open the door. When the enemy invades the sea and islands: we bow our heads and surrender. When the enemy enters our house: we pay respect and worship”...

Public opinion is indignant at the demand of US Senator Tom Umberg that Vietnam not celebrate April 30 if it wants "national reconciliation" but demands the US Congress and Vietnamese people in the US to commemorate "Black April". The Viet Tan organization and anti-government websites have released a series of propaganda articles inciting national hatred, "April 30 is a milestone of the period of the Communist Party's invasion of the country and harming the people"; "resting on victory to let China encroach on the sea and islands" to distort and defame history, downplay the significance of the April 30, 1975 victory; distorting the image of "the monument of hatred against the American invaders" in Nam Dinh province, claiming that there are hundreds of monuments of hatred in cemeteries across the country while still receiving aid from the US every year...

Radio Free Asia also published an article titled “What do young people think about the April 30th anniversary activities?” which contained many distorted information. BBC NEWS Vietnamese also reported that “April 30th should not be called Liberation Day,” and distorted that “young Vietnamese people call April 30th a sad event”…

All of the above arguments are aimed at distorting the nature and just nature of our people's resistance war against the invaders, claiming that this is a civil war to deny the meaning of "liberating the country"; denying the value and significance of the April 30 event in the current social context; denying victory, dramatizing the fate of a group of people who lost all their rights after April 30 to blame "communist crimes"; ...

April 30, 1975: "Day of Southern Liberation and National Reunification"

One is, called “April 30, 1975 as Liberation Day” because this was the event that marked the liberation of the Southern Vietnam territory from the domination of the invading enemy of the US imperialists along with the lackey forces such as Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Philippines, South Korea... and the Ngo Dinh Diem government (puppet government) and the Vietnamese soldiers for Diem (puppet army) blocking the path to national reunification. Associated with that was the complete failure of the invaders and their traitorous lackeys; it was the failure of the ideology, plot, and trick of dividing the country along with the organizational system, apparatus, army... born to nurture that ideology.

Two is, calling "April 30, 1975 the day of reunification" this is the event that marks the return of the territory of Vietnam to its true meaning as it was in history in terms of ideology, will and practice; meeting the eternal aspirations of generations of patriotic Vietnamese people. It is a unified body of Vietnam from North to South in terms of territory, ideology, will and action. It ends the period of dividing a body of Vietnam into 2 halves with 2 ways of thinking and 2 ways of doing things that are almost opposite to each other.

On one side is the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, all the true patriots under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, pursuing the goal of independence, unity, territorial integrity, aiming to build a social regime: rich people, strong country, democracy, justice, civilization, happiness. On the other side is the Republic of Vietnam regime that depends on money, advisors, weapons, and military of the US to fight against the goal of national unification, killing the people, shooting at the race, betraying the achievements of ancestors to carry out the plot to divide the country.

Three is, the annual celebration of the April 30 Victory is for all patriotic Vietnamese people and progressive peace-loving humanity in the world to remember "Southern Liberation Day, National Reunification Day”; at the same time, recalling the most disastrous failure, the longest war, and the most expensive war in the history of American war.

For those who followed the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the 21-year resistance war against the US to save the country (1954-1975) was a righteous act because it protected the interests of the Fatherland and fulfilled the eternal aspirations of the Vietnamese people. For the generation of Vietnamese born before and after April 30, 1975, if they are educated and well-educated, they all know how to appreciate the value and significance of the event of April 30, 1975. For foreigners who love peace and respect the heroic country of Vietnam, they all admire and respect the vitality of the Vietnamese people and the intelligence and bravery of the Vietnamese people. Through that, we can understand more about acts of treason, clearly see the faces of those who cultivate hatred and those who sabotage the development path of Vietnam today.

Four is, historical events do not repeat in time but can only repeat in nature, meaning and space. April 30, 1975 happened once, entering the history of the Vietnamese people as a solid truth that no one can deny. Even if someone intentionally distorts or distorts, it cannot obscure the value and significance of the event of April 30, 1975 for the development process of Vietnam from its origin to the present and the future.

Every year, on the occasion of April 30, those who have the right thoughts, awareness, and actions for the country and the people always proudly and happily recall this important event. However, those who follow the enemy and betray the Fatherland are once again indignant, humiliated, and sad. The important thing is that we educate future generations to avoid repeating bad actions that affect the national and ethnic interests as happened in the past.

Five isThe April 30 event affirmed: Righteous actions for independence and national unity, no matter how difficult, will sooner or later win; always hold your head high, not ashamed of your ancestors and race. Treasonous actions, no matter how bold and aggressive, will inevitably end in failure, always be despised and cursed; no matter how far back history goes, it still cannot wash away the shame of treason.

The Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh led the people to repel the US-puppet invaders, fulfilling the thousand-year-old aspiration of the peace-loving Vietnamese people; to protect a unified Vietnamese body. Broadly understood, it is to preserve and promote the traditions and achievements of our ancestors; so that action is completely worthy of worship, respect, and pride. As for the US-puppet forces, those who followed the path of Ngo Dinh Diem, tried to propagate, gather forces, used all means to build and try to protect the so-called "Republic of Vietnam" - cut out from a unified Vietnamese body, which is the source of bloodshed and pain for the Vietnamese people. Following the invading US imperialists, relying on US aid to block the path of independence and national unification that our ancestors had painstakingly built over thousands of years of history in conditions of war after war, is synonymous with treason, going against the interests and cultural traditions of the nation.
