Latest AC Milan vs Inter Milan squad information

Since taking over, Sergio Conceicao has yet to settle down in attack and will continue to have to choose between Santiago Gimenez and Tammy Abraham for the centre-forward position. It is also unclear whether Rafael Leao will return to the starting line-up.

The Milan coach has almost a full squad at his disposal, with Alessandro Florenzi having just recovered from a long-term injury. However, Ruben Loftus-Cheek had an appendectomy last weekend and Emerson Royal has yet to recover from injury.

Yunus Musah – serving a Serie A suspension – will compete for a starting spot in midfield, while Malick Thiaw is hoping to be fit after illness.

For Inter, Alessandro Bastoni has returned from suspension, but they will be without Kristjan Asllani (suspended for the first leg), along with three injuries: Denzel Dumfries, Piotr Zielinski and Lautaro Martinez.

Captain Lautaro – who is one goal away from becoming only the third player in Inter history to score 10 goals against Milan – has returned to training after a hamstring injury sustained on duty in Argentina, but coach Inzaghi is unlikely to risk him in this game.

Marko Arnautovic or Joaquin Correa could start alongside Marcus Thuram up front, with Mehdi Taremi still struggling with a groin problem.

Latest football commentary AC Milan vs Inter Milan

Since a dramatic 2-1 win in September – when Matteo Gabbia's late goal ended a long losing streak against Inter – AC Milan have fallen far behind in Serie A.

AC Milan's Fikayo Tomori fights for the ball with Inter Milan's Marcus Thuram during their sides' Serie A match, on February 2, 2025

With eight games remaining, the Rossoneri are 20 points adrift of the top spot, and former Inter man Sergio Conceicao has yet to make a breakthrough since replacing compatriot Paulo Fonseca.

Despite ending Inter's quadruple dreams with a dramatic comeback to win the Italian Super Cup final in January, Milan were subsequently knocked out of the Champions League by an injury-hit Feyenoord and are now ninth in the table.

Amid turmoil both on and off the pitch, Milan have just 47 points and face an uphill battle to break into the top four against competition from Juventus, Lazio, Bologna, Roma and Fiorentina.

A 2-1 defeat to Napoli on Sunday – in which they were two goals down after just 19 minutes, with striker Santiago Gimenez missing a penalty – left the gap at the top of the table at nine points, with speculation mounting that Conceicao will not be retained beyond the season.

However, he could still turn things around by advancing further in another cup competition, especially if he can overcome Milan's arch-rivals along the way.

Just days after nearly beating Inter for the third time this season – taking the lead through Tijjani Reijnders in injury time but then being held to a late equaliser by Stefan de Vrij – Milan eliminated Roma in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals in February, with Tammy Abraham scoring twice against his parent club.

The Lombardy giants – who have only won the Coppa Italia once in nearly half a century – entered this year’s tournament in the last 16 thanks to their European involvement, starting with a 6-1 thrashing of arch-rivals Sassuolo in December.

After winning the Super Cup, Milan are now determined to beat Inter over two legs at the San Siro and aim to improve their modest domestic cup record with a title in Rome.

Of course, their city rivals will not let that happen easily. Inter are keen to reassert their position in the derby and continue their pursuit of a historic treble.

Inter won six consecutive derbies between January 2023 and April 2024, but Milan have bounced back with two victories this season – only De Vrij's late strike rescued a draw in their last meeting.

Inter set up this dramatic semi-final after beating Udinese in the round of 16, then overcoming Lazio – coach Simone Inzaghi's former team – in the quarter-finals.

Substitute striker Marko Arnautovic continued to score in both rounds, helping Inter beat Lazio 2-0 at the San Siro, keeping alive their ambition to win a 10th Coppa Italia in May, when they could also complete the three major trophies of the season.

The Serie A champions also consolidated their lead at the top of the table after returning from the international break with a 2-1 win over Udinese, with Arnautovic again on target as Inzaghi rotated his squad for a busy fixture schedule.

Not only do Inter face Milan twice in the Coppa semi-finals, they also face Bayern Munich in the Champions League – and still have eight Serie A games to go, in a race on three fronts.

With five straight wins in all competitions, they head into April with confidence high – but also knowing Milan are desperate to derail their dreams.
