Latest Bodo/Glimt vs Lazio team information

With just one player absent in Daniel Bassi, coach Kjetil Knutsen can choose from most of his players for the first leg.

Captain Ulrik Saltnes scored twice in Eliteserien's 3-0 win over HamKam on Saturday, and he will start in a three-man midfield, alongside Patrick Berg.

Berg has made 58 tackles in the Europa League this season, 15 more than any other player; he needs just one more to equal the overall record set by Javier Mascherano for Liverpool in 2010.

Meanwhile, up front, Ole Didrik Blomberg and former AC Milan man Jens Petter Hauge can support centre-forward Kasper Hogh. Hogh has scored seven goals in this European campaign, the most by a Danish player in a European campaign since Soren Lerby scored 10 for Ajax 45 years ago.

Lazio's team selection could be influenced by this weekend's Derby della Capitale, when they face city rivals and top-four contenders Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

One key player who is definitely out on Thursday is midfielder Nicolo Rovella, who is suspended, while Patric and key left-back Nuno Tavares will miss out through injury.

However, Matteo Guendouzi is back from domestic suspension, and key striker Taty Castellanos is edging closer to the return fans have been hoping for, having been an unused substitute against Atalanta.

Latest football commentary Bodo/Glimt vs Lazio

Bodo/Glimt booked their place in the quarter-finals after taking a 3-0 lead in the first leg against Olympiacos at home, and despite losing 2-1 in the second leg, they progressed on aggregate.

Under Kjetil Knutsen, the team reached the quarter-finals of a major European tournament for the second time, after advancing deep in the 2021-22 Conference League.

Previously, in this season's Europa League, they came just short of qualifying directly for the round of 16 from the group stage on goal difference, but came back from a 1-0 first-leg deficit to win 5-2 in extra time in the return leg against Twente.

At home, the Norwegian champions have been excellent, winning five of their six European matches this season, scoring at least three goals in four different games.

After starting the new domestic season with back-to-back wins in the Eliteserien, plus an 8-0 win in the cup, Glimt have also scored a total of 11 goals without conceding since losing to Olympiacos in the second leg.

However, their opponents in this match are a much higher calibre side, as Knutsen's side will face an Italian side for the first time since being knocked out of the Conference League by Roma three years ago.

In that encounter, Bodo/Glimt won 2–1 in the first leg at home at Aspmyra, their second win over city rivals Lazio that season, having also beaten Sampdoria in a Cup Winners' Cup tie in 1994.

While Bodo/Glimt had a long road to get to this stage, Lazio easily qualified for the group stage, topping their group and qualifying directly for the round of 16.

In this round, the Biancocelesti had to fight hard against Viktoria Plzen, winning 1-0 in the first leg thanks to a 98th-minute Gustav Isaksen goal despite being down to nine men, and Alessio Romagnoli scored in Roma to give them a 3-2 aggregate win.

Marco Baroni's side have won seven Europa League games this season - the only time Lazio have won more in a European campaign was in the 1999-00 Champions League - and they are now one of the favourites to win the trophy in Bilbao next month.

This is their first quarter-final in seven years, and they have not reached a continental semi-final since 2003, while the 1999 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup remain their only European trophies.

So Baroni's side could write a new chapter in Lazio history if they win this season, but first they have to get through a trip to Norway, then look forward to a semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt or Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg next week.

Lazio come into this game on the back of a much-needed domestic win, having picked up just one win in their previous six Serie A games, and beating a side in poor form last weekend.

Isaksen continued to score as Lazio saw off top-four rivals Atalanta BC in Bergamo, and Baroni hopes this will be a turning point for his side.
