Receiving “nice” letter, US President hopes to meet North Korean leader soon
On January 2, US President Donald Trump said that the US government will hold a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the not too distant future.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, President Donald Trump said he had received a “nice” letter from Kim Jong-un and expressed hope to meet the leader soon. President Donald Trump also affirmed that he had never emphasized the speed of North Korea’s denuclearization.

Earlier the same day, President Donald Trump announced that he was looking forward to a second meeting with leader Kim Jong-un. On Twitter, President Kim Jong-un said that the North Korean leader affirmed that North Korea will not produce or test nuclear weapons, or transfer weapons to others, and is ready to meet him at any time.
Therefore, the US President said that he also wants to meet again with Mr. Kim Jong-un, who has realized that North Korea possesses great economic potential. This is the first reaction of the US after the New Year message of the North Korean leader.
In his televised New Year's message earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said he was ready to meet the US President again at any time and strive to bring about an outcome that the international community would welcome. He called on the US to take appropriate measures in denuclearization negotiations, but asserted that North Korea would have to seek an alternative path if the US fails to fulfill its commitments and continues to unilaterally impose sanctions on North Korea.
