(Baonghean.vn) - The main character of the show The 7th Wish, with the touching story 'Bone Rice Cake' 2 years ago, has passed away due to the terrible bone cancer.

Nearly 2 years ago, the program “7th Wish” on VTV3 broadcast the program “Banh duc co xuong”, telling the story of stepmother and stepchild between Mrs. Phan Thi Hoa and Tran Van Thang in hamlet 1, Thanh Mai tea farm (Thanh Chuong).

This fairy tale-like story in real life once again made many people cry, because Thang just passed away from the terrible bone cancer.

Tran Van Thang is the 7th child in a large family. Thang's mother died when he was 3 years old and his youngest brother was only 2 months old. After that, Mr. Tran Van Duc (born in 1950) - Thang's father remarried. Mrs. Phan Thi Hoa (born in 1970) came to Mr. Duc in that situation.

It was thought that “stepmother and stepchildren” would have a hard time getting along as the folk prejudice said: “No rice cake has bones. No stepmother loves her stepchildren”. However, on the contrary, Mrs. Hoa loved and devoted herself to raising her husband’s 9 children. She loved her stepchildren as her own children, and in return, the children in the family respected Mrs. Hoa as their own mother.

In mid-2015, Thang was diagnosed with bone cancer and had to be admitted to K Hospital in Hanoi for treatment. From that day on, Mrs. Hoa considered the hospital her home, taking care of Thang day and night. The touching story of the mother and son was broadcast on television on the program “The 7th Wish”, deeply touching the hearts of audiences nationwide.

More than 2 years since Thang got sick, the mother and son have been resilient through countless treatment sessions. Always by Thang’s side, guiding him every step, taking care of his hygiene, taking care of his every spoonful of porridge, staying awake to watch over his fitful sleep…, doctors and patients at the hospitals were all impressed by the love that stepmother had for her child who she did not bear.

Everyone hoped for a miracle so that Thang - the strong-willed young man with the "sunshine smile" in "The 7th Wish" years ago - would be cured and return healthy to the loving arms of his family. But the truth was too cruel, after more than 2 years of treatment, bone cancer took his life at the age of 20 on the afternoon of October 27, 2017.

The news of Thang’s death was immediately shared on social media. On her personal page, BTV Diep Chi wrote: “He just passed away, everyone… He was only 20 years old, God is so cruel. I was extremely happy when Hoa’s mother got the test results, that the terrible disease no longer hurt him.

Mom promised to take him to Hanoi in June, and in the end, he was hospitalized that month. He had lost one lung completely, had large tumors on both legs, and could not walk or stand, but Thang remained strong like a warrior until his last breath.

Everyone send my regards to Thang. Hello my bravest, most optimistic brother. Every time I receive news like this, the pain is indescribable.”

Today, Thang’s small house in Hamlet 1, Thanh Mai Tea Farm, was enveloped in an atmosphere of grief. On the morning of October 28, his sisters from far away came to see off their ill-fated younger brother. Editor Diep Chi and the program “7th Wish” – VTV3 sent a white wreath to pay their respects to him. In the smoke of incense, Mrs. Hoa cried out miserably and painfully: “Stay home with your mother, I will take care of you, don’t leave me, my child…”!

Mrs. Hoa said in tears: “Thang was brought home from the hospital 13 days ago. In the last days, he could only drink a few spoonfuls of milk. On the morning of the 27th, Thang said, “Mom, change my clothes.” In the afternoon, after eating some oranges and porridge, he died. I feel so sorry for him!” Witnessing the painful moments at Mrs. Hoa’s house, especially the love of the stepmother for her stepchild, all the witnesses could not help but choke up.
